Walk for the Animals

3rd Annual Walk for the Animals

The 2012 "Walk for the Animals" is hosted by The Animal Hospital of West Port St. Lucie. The traditional 1-mile dog walk will be grand-marshalled by a special rescue, "Radar," from The Humane Society of St. Lucie County. "Radar" is an abandoned 12-year old Chihuahua who arrived at the Humane Society of St. Lucie County in 2011, hairless, blind in both eyes due to cataracts, anemic from his flea infestation, and had such poor mouth hygiene, teeth and his bottom jaw withered away. All donations benefit The Humane Society of St. Lucie County's emergency fund to help pets like "Radar."

The fun starts at 2662 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd in Port St. Lucie and is free to families, though a $3.00 donation is requested for each person to join the walk, which includes one free raffle ticket. The first 100 walkers received a free gift bag. Families will enjoy tropical music, food, games, vendors, and raffles. Come and compete in the best dressed and the best trick pet contest.

Event Update:

Thank you to all who attended the 3rd Annual Walk for the Animals at The Animal Hospital of West Port St. Lucie. We had great vendors, volunteers, walkers, board members, staff at the event, and all tried hanging in there during the morning storms, but the wind and rain proved to be a little too much. Before the walk itself had a chance to take place, the event was called for the year. Special thank you to Amanda Gilleo and Dr. Fox of The Animal Hospital of West Port St. Lucie for all of your awesome effort.
