Microchip
Information
Microchips
provide a permanent means of pet identification that will
not fade or be lost over time. Owner information can be accessed
electronically and immediately, ensuring the rapid return
of the lost pet. While tags may be lost from time to time,
external identification such as these are still important
as a quick "visual" means of identifying your pet.
The
Humane Society of St. Lucie County microchips every pet that
is adopted through the shelter. New adopters will receive
paperwork in the mail after the adoption to change address
and contact information with the microchip registered company.
Each
found pet brought into the shelter is scanned for a microchip
to contact the owner.
The
Humane Society of St. Lucie County offers microchip services.
Microchipping
is $25 each pet. For
information on microchips, contact the shelter at 772-461-0687
ext. 233.
