BARK
FOR LIFE
"Relay
for Life" for Canine Companions
On
February 19, 2012, for the first time, the American Cancer
Society's "Relay for Life" team is hosting a "Bark
for Life" dog walk event benefiting the homeless pets
of St. Lucie County and the fight against cancer. This canine-version
of the cancer relay will be held at Tradition Lake in Port
St. Lucie and will provide the community a way to celebrate
canine companions who provide unconditional love and compassion
to cancer survivors.
Walk
registration begins at 9 a.m. and the walk begins at 11 a.m.
starting at Tradition Square. Walkers pay $10 to join the
walk and teams are welcome. Restaurants from all over St.
Lucie County in the 'Luv Your Buns' contest will compete with
one meat and one vegetarian entry to be judged. Come and enjoy
great food, beverages, vendors, dog training demos, activities,
children's games and live music until 3 p.m.
Proceeds
will benefit the American Cancer Society and The Humane Society
of St. Lucie County.
The
Humane Society of St. Lucie County is an open admission animal
shelter in Fort Pierce, rescuing more than 8,000 unwanted
pets each year, thanks to the support of donors and volunteers.
