The Humane Society of St. Lucie County offers pets for adoption at:

  • The main shelter at 100 Savannah Rd. in Fort Pierce. Click for directions.
  • PETCO in St. Lucie West at 1753 N West St. Lucie Blvd, Port St. Lucie
  • PetSmart in Tradition at 10540 SW Village Parkway, Port St. Lucie

Adoption Hours:
Monday 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. (adoptions end at 5:30 p.m.)
Tuesday 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (adoptions send at 3:30 p.m.)
Wednesday 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. (adoptions end at 5:30 p.m.)
Thursday 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (adoptions end at 3:30 p.m.)
Friday 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. (adoptions end at 5:30 p.m.)
Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (adoptions end at 4:30 p.m.)
Sunday - Closed

Minimum Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years of age to adopt any animal.
  • Valid driver’s license or state ID including your current address.
  • Landlord or parent’s approval if applicable.
  • “Get acquainted visit” with animal and household family members.
  • Pre-adoption visit with any other dogs living at the prospective adoptee’s home.
  • All animals are spayed or neutered prior to joining their new family.
  • Successful completion of a pre-adoption interview.
  • We reserve the right to refuse any adoption.

Fees and Services for Adoptions:

  • Cat or Kitten adoption fee is $75.
  • Dog or Puppy adoption fee is $90.

Adoption Fees Include:

  • Animal health check
  • Vaccinations (Rabies, DAPP/LCI, Bordetella)
  • Initial de-worming
  • Microchip
  • Medical examination by a veterinarian
  • Feline leukemia testing for cats
  • Pre-adoption Counseling Session
